How Balance at the Top Improves the Bottom Line
About the Topic
It's a fact: companies with more women in senior management positions financially outperform companies with fewer women at the top. In other words, more women in senior leadership makes good business sense. Indeed, today's global market requires a new approach to leadership. Skills such as collaboration and focusing the team on a shared goal are essential and just happen to be the very skills that women managers are noted for.
In the marketing arena in particular - where women tend to outnumber the men and where the customer with the purse strings is usually a woman - the balance of perspective necessary for success rests in your ability to also balance gender in senior management. Too often, however, an imbalance is clearly visible in ill-directed ads, campaigns that miss the mark and other activities that yield poor return on investment.
In her new book, My Life as a Corporate Goddess, Jane Rosen uses intelligent satire to bring new life and insight to the ongoing dialogue for gender balance in leadership. Join Rosen and special guest host, Diana Jordan, as they look at the attributes of successful leadership, the different styles of masculine and feminine leadership and why savvy marketers need both. Attendees will also benefit from practical advice on how to develop their own leadership muscles, boost their delegating power and improve their ability to mentor. About Jane Rosen Throughout her career Jane was usually the only woman in the room. Her book, My Life as a Corporate Goddess, is a humorous reflection of those experiences, filled with inspiring stories of women she's met along the way. Jane excels as an image-maker, bringing stories of artists, politicians, teachers and business leaders to light.
She held executive positions including director of executive public relations, global project manager of senior leadership development, and executive producer of multimedia at NCR. She received the Best in Practice award by NCR's Public Relations in 2001 and 2002. Her career as a broadcasting producer/director, interviewer and host included national and regional programs. Those efforts earned numerous Emmy’s, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Award, and The Ohio Governors Award for her contributions to cultural and educational television.
Rosen currently serves on the University of Dayton's Public Relations Advisory Board. She has previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Human Race Theatre Company, and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Midwest Region.
