Speaker Bios

Gail Williams, Director of Communities, Salon.com
Gail works at Salon. She's a full-time online community junky with a strong affection for Salon Table Talk, and for her first love, The WELL. So mostly her attention goes to that kind of conversation. Gail also plays with photography, video, craft brewing, satire, politics and hiking.

Jeff Chausse, Web Director, Harmonix Music Systems
Jeff Chausse is the Web Director at Harmonix and is responsible for leading the interactive efforts for its Rock Band video game. Rock Band has caught the imagination of musicians and non-musicians alike – more than 3 million units have been sold since it hit the market in 2007. These passionate users have taken their voices to the web by sharing their Rock Band stories, codes and scores. Jeff will discuss the much anticipated release of Rock Band 2 and Harmonix's strategy to cultivate online community and take the franchise to new levels online. Prior to working at Harmonix, Jeff has held senior roles at Zoom Information, Hill Holliday and Groove Networks.

Melissa Casburn, Sr Information Architect, ISITE
With 12 years of experience as a project manager, instructional designer, web strategist and information architect, Melissa can get a lot done in a day. Firmly rooted in both corporate and agency environments, she's helped leading companies (including HP, Microsoft, Comcast, Cadence Design Systems and The Pampered Chef) add stickiness to their sites, and she takes great pride in creating experiences that keep users aware, informed and autonomous. Melissa holds a BA in Clothing and Textile Design from San Francisco State University and an MBA from the University of Oregon.

Scott Kveton, VP of Open Platforms, Vidoop
Kveton is a digital identity promoter, open source advocate, and Chairman of the OpenID Foundation. He has worked at Amazon, RuleSpace.com and JanRain, and founded the Open Source Lab at Oregon State University. Working closely with projects like Mozilla, Linux, Drupal and Apache led Kveton to OpenID in mid-2006. Kveton was named to Red Herring's 2007 list of 25 Titans in Waiting. Kveton speaks publicly about identity and open source and holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Oregon State University.
