Storytelling in Action: Wonderfolk’s Volunteer Experience Comes to Life
Storytelling in Action: Wonderfolk’s Volunteer Experience Comes to Life
We’re thrilled to share the first submission from our 2025 AMA PDX Agency Storytelling Project! This initiative aims to build awareness for the Agency program and highlight the value of AMA PDX by capturing the real-time experiences of our volunteer teams. Through authentic narratives, we aim to amplify the voices of these unique, impact-driven non-profits and community organizations, and educate regional professional marketers and nonprofit staff via digestible, applicable stories.
Our first feature spotlights Bryn Culbert, a storyteller and agency associate on the Wonderfolk team. In this engaging Q&A-style video, Bryn sits down with Dory Athey, account manager for the Wonderfolk agency team, to interview her about her experience with AMA PDX Agency. Bryn shares insights into her storytelling role, the team's collaboration with Wonderfolk, and the meaningful impact of their work.
Wonderfolk is a Portland-based nonprofit dedicated to inspiring activism and community engagement among underrepresented youth. The volunteer team has been collaborating with Wonderfolk on messaging development, audience research, and campaign strategy to help expand their reach. As account manager, Dory brings years of experience to the team. “Because we are a pro bono group, we get to be more bold, more creative, and more nimble—because the only thing we’re constrained by is our own capacity,” she shares. This project not only supports a powerful local cause but also creates a space for marketers to lead with purpose, learn from one another, and grow.
