The sun is shining in Portland, and the 2025 AMA PDX Agency program is in full swing—our hard-working volunteers are truly amping up the creative work for our nonprofit clients!
Check out the latest storytelling update from the Wonderfolk team: This month’s spotlight features Jeanne Fu, a full-stack marketer and first-time AMA PDX Agency volunteer. Jeanne brings a wealth of experience from both client-side and agency roles—and she’s channeling that expertise into high-impact, pro bono work in the team's creative marketing.
Wonderfolk creates leadership opportunities for low-income and BIPOC youth through immersive experiences in the arts, outdoors, and global travel. The organization’s flagship program culminates in a trip to Costa Rica.
As co-account lead on the Wonderfolk project, Jeanne is working alongside a team of volunteers to guide the non-profit through a three-phase marketing project. The team recently wrapped phase one, developing a research framework and evidence matrix to strengthen Wonderfolk’s fundraising efforts. Now in phase two, they’re diving into branding and messaging—crafting communications that speak to Wonderfolk’s diverse audiences.
“It’s very empowering to think about something I do in my day job and be able to apply that in a way of volunteerism that is leveraging expertise to drive progress.” Jeanne says.
Throughout the project, Jeanne has been struck by the spirit of collaboration. “I love how collaborative and how much of a partnership there really is between the agency client and ourselves,” she explains. “Wonderfolk truly sees us as an extension of their team.”
That sense of alignment extends to Jeanne’s own motivations. Volunteering with the Agency program has offered her a renewed sense of purpose and professional fulfillment: “As much as this work is a gift to these nonprofit organizations, I feel like it’s a gift to me in the sense that I can really hone in and leverage my skillset and produce something that has more runway, where we’re encouraged to be more bold.”
